Canadian Montessori Academy (CMA) is a member of the American Montessori Society (AMS), the International Montessori Council (IMC), National Center for Montessori Education (NCME) and is governed by the Education Act of Ontario, which is administered by the Ontario Ministry of Education. CMA was founded by Ayna A. Cader one of Maria Montessori's first pupils. The school has been in operation since 1980.
Maria Montessori(1870-1952)was the first female physician in Italy.
She was always interested in the development and education of children.
Based on her observations she developed a method of teaching that
takes its roots in treating children with respect and
courtesy.
She traveled the world teaching others about the Montessori Method.
In Sri Lanka, one of her students was Ayna Cader.
Ayna came to Canada and began her own Montessori school in 1980.
Today this school is the Canadian Montessori Academy, operated by Sherie and Sabena de Mel, second and third generation Montessorians.
CMA follows Maria Montessori's teachings.
Here, the children are respected. They learn about language, math, and culture in an environment, which is designed for them. They are happy and well cultured. The classrooms are bright and sunny. The teachers are themselves well educated and schooled.
Our motto is "Because we care". And really that is the most important thing you can do for your child. Put him/her in the care of people who are there to do the best for your child, because they care. |
