Speciality Programmes
Spanish
Spanish is the world’s second most spoken language, with over 400 million speakers.
It is an official language of 21 countries, the Organization of American States, and the United Nations.
Through the Spanish curriculum, elementary and middle school students learn the basics of communication
in this fascinating and useful language, while becoming better global citizens and more
active players in the Western Hemisphere.
Students also learn about Hispanic culture, food, music, and dance.
Many students enter the Spanish programme believing that all Hispanic culture is similar to
that of their Caribbean destination of choice. Through the curriculum students
learn about the great and unparalleled variety of music, food, clothing, customs, and even
ethnic composition that is present from the northern deserts of Mexico and
the Pyrenees mountains of Spain to the icy tundra of southern Patagonia.
This is a great introduction to a language and culture that is full of life and that
can open up a new world of opportunities.
