Physical Education
Infant toddlers
The development of gross motor skills is at the forefront of the physical education curriculum
for the infants and toddlers. Through the use of climbing frames, tunnels, running games and
group interaction, students learn to control their movement and maintain balance.
Toddlers build on this curriculum through the addition of ball games that encourage
coordination and teamwork.
Primary
Primary students enjoy daily exposure to sports through the physical education curriculum.
The objective of this programme during the primary years is to build on the skills acquired during
the toddler programme. Students enhance their mastery of gross motor skills and balance through
activities such as obstacle courses and balance beam. Furthermore, activities such as relay races
and other team sports encourage good sportsmanship and dynamic teamwork that encourages working
together to the benefit of the group.
Hand-eye coordination, as well as footwork, is introduced during this period through ball skill
activities such as dribbling, kicking and passing.
Elementary
Junior Elementary
The physical education curriculum for junior elementary students is designed to promote
the development of a love of exercise and sports that will encourage students to continue their
training and maintain an improved physical condition throughout life.
In addition to training on circuits, students focus on developing the values of good sportsmanship
as well as teamwork. These values are expanded upon through exposure to floor hockey, basketball,
soccer and other popular sports.
Middle school / Senior Elementary
Leadership, sportsmanship and fair-play are the focus of the physical education curriculum for
senior elementary and middle school students. These values are put to the test through various
sports such as floor hockey, basketball, soccer, and other exciting sports. Periodically middle
school and senior elementary students challenge staff and faculty to exciting matches that involve
the whole school!
A unique aspect of this age group is that circuit training is developed individually for each
student so that they can each progress at their own pace.
