Art

The Corpore Sano Art Programme is a student’s chance to explore different artistic techniques and media while bringing out each student’s creative talents. Each week they build on the previous skills learned as they have a great time making beautiful and artistic creations. Students will also work on collaborative projects that emphasize the Montessori Philosophy of working together towards a common goal. These projects are on display throughout the school.

Book Club

The Corpore Sano Book Club introduces students to various types of literature including storybooks, poetry, short stories, drama, and novels. Everyone, regardless of age, will be able to fully participate and share their thoughts and opinions with others.

Building Club

The Building Club is a very creative and exploratory programme where students use their imaginations to construct their own creations using a variety of materials such as Lego, Kinnex, dominoes, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and more. Classes consist of a combination of student and teacher directed activities. Students learn about what makes structures stronger and what contributes to their weaknesses. Studentsʼ creativity is the limit as they are encouraged to make their structures both unique and artistic. They work with their hands and improve their ability to manipulate small and delicate materials.

Crafts

This fun-filled programme is sure to excite every young mind. Students express their creativity with popsicle sticks, fun foam, pipe cleaners, glitter and many other craft supplies. This activity aids them to build on their cutting, pasting and writing skills. Students’ dexterity and concentration will improve as they create necklaces, pencil decorations, finger puppets and more involved and complex craft projects. As their skills improve, increasingly more intricate crafts are introduced. Each week students take home their craft creations.

Games & Puzzles

Games and puzzles are great ways to learn group socialization skills that cannot be learned in other ways. This fun-filled programme is designed to focus on developing these skills while having a great time. This programme hones-in on skills of strategy and co-operation as is manifest through board games. Students focus on learning a variety of traditional social games during this programme.

Music & Movement

The Music and Movement Programme focuses on an appreciation for music and an artistic control of the body through song and dance. Brief introductions to classical music and ballet; jazz dancing; and use of accessories such as ribbons, balls, and beanbags are incorporated into this unique and all-encompassing programme. Listening skills and flexibility are enhanced through stretching and flexibility games.

Sporty Sports

The dynamic Sporty Sports programme is sure to excite all our young athletes. Through playing and practising such sports as soccer, basketball, volleyball and racket sports; students develop ball and racket handling skills as well as focus on the rules of the games and good sportsmanship.

Swimming

Swimming is an important skill to have, both for fun and for exercise. Dovercourt follows the Life Saving Swim Programme which allows students to progress through a series of levels upon completion of certain criteria. This programme is taught by certified lifeguards at Dovercourt Pool as well as accompanying CMA teachers. Students are transported by school bus to Dovercourt where they partake in swimming lessons and activities during the course of the afternoon.
