Art
The Corpore Sano Art Programme is a student’s chance to explore different artistic techniques and media
while bringing out each student’s creative talents. Each week they build on the previous skills learned as they
have a great time making beautiful and artistic creations. Students will also work on collaborative projects that
emphasize the Montessori Philosophy of working together towards a common goal. These projects are on
display throughout the school.

Badminton
This programme is an introduction to badminton. Students have an opportunity to learn and practice the
skills associated with this popular pastime. Through skill-building and game situations, students are sure
to enjoy this wonderful sport.

Book Club
The Corpore Sano Book Club introduces students to various types of literature including storybooks, poetry,
short stories, drama, and novels. Everyone, regardless of age, will be able to fully participate and share their
thoughts and opinions with others.

Building Club
The Building Club is a very creative and exploratory programme where students use their imaginations to
construct their own creations using a variety of materials such as Lego, Kinnex, dominoes, popsicle
sticks, pipe cleaners, and more. Classes consist of a combination of student and teacher directed
activities. Students learn about what makes structures stronger and what contributes to their
weaknesses. Studentsʼ creativity is the limit as they are encouraged to make their structures both unique
and artistic. They work with their hands and improve their ability to manipulate small and delicate
materials.

Choir
In the Choir Programme, students hone their skills of vocal musical expression. Students learn to sing pieces
from a variety of musical genres and have a truly well-rounded choral experience.

Cooking
This programme allows students to learn all about cooking from reading a recipe and preparing the ingredients
(mise en place) to cooking the food. Students taste the dish-of-the-day and learn how to create their own
variety. They take home a family-size serving of the creation as well as the complete recipe so that they may
prepare it again.

Floor Hockey
Students gain an understanding of the rules and skills of floor hockey while practising sportsmanship and team
work. In keeping with the Montessori Philosophy, teams are small so that each student may fully participate,
allowing them to develop their skills naturally.

Games & Puzzles
Games and puzzles are great ways to learn group socialization skills that cannot be learned in other ways.
This fun-filled programme is designed to focus on developing these skills while having a great time. This
programme hones-in on skills of strategy and co-operation as is manifest through board games. Students
focus on learning a variety of traditional social games during this programme.

Gymnastics
Students develop “body awareness” while learning the fundamentals of gymnastics such as proper balance,
jumping techniques, flips and much more.

Origami
Students are taught the basic techniques of origami which enable them to make basic creations. They
start by making animals, shapes, and other traditional figures from origami paper, the traditional medium
for this ancient art form. In addition to being fun and artistic, origami illustrates geometry and
mathematics in action. Each week students use the skills that they developed during the previous weeks.

Science
Students learn to observe, interpret, draw conclusions, and recognize scientific laws. By working in small
groups, students use the Scientific Method to perform experiments and decide on the necessary
components to create simple machines. They work together to create working models of these machines.
All of the groups then compare their creations and learn what methods worked most effectively.

Soccer
Soccer, one of the world’s most popular sports, is taught through this programme by focusing on footwork,
running, endurance and teamwork. In this way, the Corpore Sano Soccer programme builds on existing skills
while teaching new skills that are beneficial in a variety of other sports.

Swimming
Swimming is an important skill to have, both for fun and for exercise. Dovercourt follows the Life Saving Swim
Programme which allows students to progress through a series of levels upon completion of certain criteria.
This programme is taught by certified lifeguards at Dovercourt Pool as well as accompanying CMA
teachers. Students are transported by school bus to Dovercourt where they partake in swimming lessons
and activities during the course of the afternoon.

Yoga
Through breathing techniques, body postures, movements, hand positions, and mantras; yoga helps build
physical fitness while relaxing the body and calming the nerves. Classes begin with a simple Sanskrit
mantra to set the mood, and then transition into a story that provides both a flow and order to the physical
component of yoga, and entertainment during the class. Kundalini Yoga classes also include a time to
meditate and relax. While relaxing, students gain self-control and develop a strong connection between their
mind and body.
