CAREER OPPORTUNITIES for  MONTESSORI TEACHERS

Successful completion of the Canadian Montessori Academy Early Childhood Montessori Teacher Education Program leads to a MACTE accredited ECE Certificate form CMATEP.

Information regarding career opportunities may often be obtained from CMA, HRDC (Human Resources Development Canada) and the Ministries of Education for each province.  Information regarding positions is also published in the American Montessori Society (AMS), Association Montessori Internationale(AMI), The Montessori Foundation, the North American Montessori Teacher’s Association(NAMTA), and the National Center for Montessori Education(NCME).

The U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics projects an 18% growth in job openings for Child Care professionals from now through to year 2016. While CMATEP anticipates a growing demand for Montessori certified teachers, we cannot guarantee employment, salary or occupational advancement. Additional information relevant to the demand for qualified personnel are as follows:

  • Growing demand for Child Care workers in the U.S.
  • Number of child care workers in the U.S.:1.4 million
  • Percentage who are self-employed: 35 percent
  • Mean annual earnings: $19,670
  • Projected job growth: 18 percent through 2016

A study by Labour Canada has the following to say about work-related Child Care Centres in Canada:

“The number of work-related child-care centres in Canada has nearly doubled between 1991 and 2000. The most marked increase in absolute terms occurred in Quebec, where more than half of Canada’s work-related centres are located. Substantial increases, at least in relative terms, can also be noted in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.”

Note: Montessori teachers fall into the category of ‘high-end, quality Child Care providers.

Montessori schools and programs are expanding rapidly in more developed and developing countries. Such schools and programs are always looking for certified and dedicated Montessori teachers.
